Description:

Robert Bradicich was inducted into the U.S. Army in March of 1943. He received basic training at Camp Blanding, Florida and Camp Miles Standish, Massachusetts. He was assigned to the 28th Infantry Division and deployed to the European Theater, landing at Southampton, England.

In July of 1944, with the 28th Division, Bradicich joined the invasion of Normandy. In August, they marched with the Free French Army through the streets of liberated Paris. In 10 months they fought their way through France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany, participating in some of the bloodiest battles of the war.

Bradicich returned to the U.S. in May of 1945. He was preparing for transfer to the Pacific Theater when the war ended. For his service in Europe Bradicich received decorations including a bronze star and a purple heart.
