Description:
Eleanor Greentree was a high school student in West Virginia when the U.S. entered World War II. During air raid drills, Greentree acted as a messenger for the local Civil Defense. She also worked, after school hours, as a typist for the Ration Board. In this interview she describes the changes the war wrought for her family and community. Greentree describes victory gardens, recruitment offices, conservation measures and a nearby POW Camp.
