Description:
Robert C. Newman grew up on a farm in Virginia during the Depression. He remembers being very frustrated with farm life and eventually left to work for the FBI as a file clerk. It was then that World War II came along and gave him the chance to be a pilot. He completed his Army basic training in Miami Beach Florida in 1943 and after almost two more years of training and flight school flew his first mission in January of 1945.
